On his first appearance for Uganda, Sebastian Fisher Quinn scored a hat-trick.
The 16-year-old forward, born in Scotland and a player at Partick Thistle, made his debut for the Under-17s in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Uganda won 8-0 against Burundi, and Fisher Quinn scored all three of his goals in the second half.
His route to the shirt runs through his mother, Kate, who was born in Uganda while his grandfather taught at a school there. He grew up on his grandparents’ stories of the country before he trained in it. In August he was called to the national camps, where he first wore Uganda’s colours in training.
The eligibility came through his family. But not his goals.
The qualifiers continue.
